Welcome to my first blog Bead Challenge. All 10 Contestants were given 2 sets of Snake Jasper Gemstones. They needed to create a handmade piece of art using these two beads & any other materials they wanted. The possibilities were endless & they all did an incredibly great job coming up with a unique handmade piece. Lets meet all the contestants & the pieces they've created...shall we?
- Liz - "Bohemian Charm" - The braceletrepresents a classy combination of earth & metal with it's colors and textures. Liz
combined aqua snake Jasper Gemstones, two similar multi-color round beads, black beads, silver separators & a metallic loop chain link with matching clasp.
- Kirsten - "Summer Breeze" - The bracelet reminds her of the light & breezy atmosphere at the beach. The colors are reminiscent of the ocean, and this
bracelet is a reminder of that fun vacation when you're land-locked once more. The bracelet has been made using Mother of Pearl Round Flat discs & aqua Snake Jasper Gemstones.
- Julie - "Wire Wrapped Jasper & Swarovski Element Earrings" - Along with the aqua skin Jasper gemstones, Julie also used 4mm &
6mm faceted round Swarovski Element beads in a dark green color. The beads are wire wrapped together by hand with gold colored jewelry wire.
- Kay - "Waltz Across Texas" - The pendant was designed to look like a Bolo tie that a lot of
cowboys in Texas wear. The fiber was put in to signify the boas/shawls some of the women wear when they go out dancing. The colors of the copper links and beads remind her of the colors of Texas. And since she live in Texas, what better name than Waltz Across Texas. All the links and clasp are handcrafted out of copper wire. There are 2 hammered brass discs to attach the fibers & a brass link on the “Bolo” pendant with the 2 Jasper beads.
- Christie - "Fall Lonely Night" - This necklace represents
those leaves who are among all those changed into beautiful reds, oranges, and yellows who feel so lonely on the crisp fall nights. The necklace was made with olive colored glass oval confetti beads that are accented with black, white and a touch of gold, metallic gold glass beads, black smoke large glass seed beads and some sort of polished natural stone beads.
- Deborah - "Seaside" - This bracelet was made by using two aqua Snake Jasper Gemstones, a coffee coloured square glass bead as the focal point. The body of the bracelet
is made up of size 12 gold glass seed beads, size 8 turquoise gold-lined glass beads and 4mm cream coloured quartz round beads with a gold toned toggle clasp set.
- Shari - "Pink Elephant" - This keychain was made with 3 purple round glass beads, 2 aqua Snake Jasper Gemstones & a pink elephant
charm.
- Tammy - "Indian Summer" - The term Indian Summer is often used to describe the hottest time of the year, typically between July and August when temperatures are considerably above average and usually accompanied by dry hazy conditions. This beautiful 24" necklace is constructed of 3 -
20mm x 25mm White Magnesite, Flat Oval Focal Stones, 2 - 9mm x 12mm Flat Rectangle Aqua Skin Jasper Gemstones, 2 - 8mm Round and Swirl Amber Glass Beads, 12 - 8mm Green Moss Agate Rondelles, 14 - 5mm Tigers Eye Beads, Antique Silver Spacer Beads, Amber, Champagne & Brown Seed Beads Antique Silver Grape Leaf Toggle Clasp.
- Susan - "Celtic Elegance" - These earrings have been made with
Aqua Snake Jasper Gemstones, Freshwater Pearls, seed beads, antique findings & a charms.
- Relynn - "River Nymph Cuff" - Hammered silver tone cuff bracelet encrusted with shells and river rocks collected from Colonial Beach, VA. Two aqua skin Jasper Gemstones have been added to incorporate the color of
the Potomac River.
- In order to caste your vote for your favorite contestant, you must include their name & the name of their creation. For example: My vote is for Solange - Ice Princess. Anonymous votes will be deleted! I will NOT tolerate any kind of rudeness towards anyone's creations or any type of cheating. This is supposed to be fun, so please be respectful. If I catch anyone cheating with votes, that person WILL BE DISQUALIFIED!!! You may ONLY VOTE ONCE & for ONE PERSON. On August 29th, two winners will be posted. People's Choice winner (winner with the most votes) will win my Ice Princess Pendant & organza cord in choice of color. Honorary Winner will be chosen by me using random.org & will win a $10 gift certificate to use at BeadieandThings. Plus, both winners will get a special blog feature done on them & their creations.
